Baltimore Marine Centers’ Frequently Asked Questions

Ok  - you have a lot of marinas in Baltimore, which one is which?

BMC Inner Harbor is the marina in the innermost part of the Inner Harbor, beside the Rusty Scupper restaurant. This is our premier transient destination as it is located in the heart of the city where most of the major tourist attractions are located.

BMC Inner Harbor West is a small marina located at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, around the corner from the Inner Harbor.

BMC HarborView is on the South side of the Inner Harbor, beside the Museum of Industry, in the HarborView Community.

BMC Lighthouse Point is our largest marina – it is located in the Canton neighborhood (North side of the harbor). Bo Brooks crab house is on site.

Pier 7 Yard & Boatel is located a few blocks from the Lighthouse Point location – it is on South Clinton Street near the Sparrow’s Point industrial area. This is also a heliport.

Do you have areas that my group or yacht club can use for events/parties?

BMC HarborView and BMC Lighthouse Point have party decks that may be reserved for your groups. BMC Inner Harbor has a picnic area near the fuel pier that may also be used. Contact your marina office to reserve. Please note that the BMC Lighthouse Point deck is in the pool area – attendees that do not have an access card for entry to the pool must pay a $15 guest fee to attend – this space may only be used during regular business hours.

Do you offer fuel discounts?

Yes, we do! Annual customers receive $.20 off a gallon. Transient guests and non-marina customers may join our Fuel Club for $.05 a gallon. We have fuel piers at BMC Inner Harbor and BMC Lighthouse Point with gas and diesel.

Where can I find your current special offers or discounts available?

We list all of our Special Offers and Promotions on our website at: http://www.baltimoremarinecenters.com/About-BMC/Specials.aspx

Who do I contact if there is an emergency at the marina?

For fires, medical or other serious emergencies, immediately dial 911. If your marina office is open, contact them OR use emergency after-hours numbers (these are posted at the entrance of every marina office)

BMC Inner Harbor, Office: 410-837-5339, After-Hours Emergency: 443-506-1803

BMC HarborView, Office: 410-752-1122, After-Hours Emergency: 443-286-6021

BMC Lighthouse Point, Office: 410-675-8888, After-Hours Emergency: 410-675-1288

Where can I find information on grocery stores, transportation, boat supplies, restaurants and the like?

We publish a Welcome Guide for every marina location – these Welcome Guides have information on local attractions, businesses, transportation and the like; ask your marina office for your free copy. We also recommend looking up information with the Baltimore Visitor’s Center (www.baltimore.org). If you need any other recommendations, our marina office staff can assist you anytime as well!

I’d like an annual slip, but I don’t want all the amenities – do you have a different rate for the slip-only?

Baltimore Marine Centers mission is to provide a resort-like marina experience with superior customer service; to achieve this, we only lease slips with full amenity packages. We do not offer a la carte marina amenities.

I’m bringing a boat from out-of-state, what is the tax policy in Maryland?

Boaters from out-of-state are subject to a 5% Excise Tax after 90 consecutive calendar days in Maryland. This tax is capped (thanks to the Marine Trades Association of Maryland!) at $15,000. Read full details here:  http://www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/registration/

I operate a foreign-flagged megayacht – where can I find information on pilotage in the Chesapeake Bay and Inner Harbor?

Bay pilots are required for foreign-flagged vessels of 500 gross tons or more (100 or more if using the C&D Canal) – they can typically be dispatched within 2 hours. They have a 3 hour minimum fee at $249 per hour. More information here: http://www.marylandpilots.com/  or call (410) 342-6013.

I have a slip at HarborView or Inner Harbor, if I want to visit the pool at Lighthouse Point, what do I need to know?

The Lighthouse Point Pool requires verification that each person entering  the pool have a valid access card (it must be verified specifically by Lighthouse Point, an access card for any other marina will not work)– please call or visit your marina office and let them know you will be visiting; they will then ensure that your access cards for the Lighthouse Point pool. Please note that access cards are not exchangeable – only the guest name that is programmed to the card is allowed entry. Guest passes may be purchased for $15 (this increases to $25 after the first two visits). For frequent guests, we recommend by a book of guest passes or an additional membership – guests must be accompanied by a member at all times.

This is a strict policy so that we can continue to offer pool access to all BMC customers without overcrowding the pool.

Do you accept liveaboards?

BMC HarborView and BMC Lighthouse Point may have liveaboard slips available – we do cap the number of liveaboards allowed at each location and an additional liveaboard fee applies.
